Idyll Wine Co Wins At International Wine Shows
Geelong’s own Idyll Wine Co has taken home double gold awards at the San Francisco International Wine Show and the 2020 China Wine and Spirits Awards with their private label Eden Grove Shiraz. Produced in the Moorabool Valley, the Eden Grove Shiraz is a quality wine made from grapes sourced from Australia’s south east.
With its smooth layers of fruit and creamy spice, Idyll Wine Co’s Eden Grove Shiraz proved popular amongst the international judging panel.
Idyll Wine Co Director Andrew Byers said that gaining international recognition in San Francisco is a testament to the Idyll team’s fruit-forward wine making style.
“It is fantastic to get such amazing feedback from wine experts. Of course, we are very proud of our wines but winning awards like this highlight how well made our wines are and that they are excellent value for money.
“Eden Grove exhibits lots of upfront bramble, blackcurrant, plum and damson fruit, with a generous lick of spice. It's a generous, mouth-filling wine and, we think, the perfect tribute to those humble beginnings. 200,000 bottles of Eden Grove have been produced at Idyll Wine Co this year.
“Our winemaking style is really to let the true fruit flavour shine through. It’s magnificent to see our Eden Grove Shiraz take home double gold on the back of a great year of growth for us,” Andrew said.
Over the past three years, Idyll Wine Co has won 38 wine awards in competitions all over the world, with four wines taking out the top spot with gold medals. Late last year, Idyll Wine Co released its first Blanc de Blanc, exclusively available at the cellar door. Idyll Wine Co’s cellar door is open Monday-Friday at 265 Ballan Road, Moorabool.
